Volga Bayrakcı Tunay completed her physical therapy and rehabilitation bachelor’s degree at Hacettepe University in 1993, followed by a master’s degree in 1997 and a doctorate in 2001. Her master’s thesis compared physical fitness in professional handball, basketball and volleyball players; her doctoral work examined rehabilitation for patellofemoral alignment problems.
Her university biography describes research in sports physiotherapy, injury prevention, functional performance testing and clinical decisions about returning to sport. It also identifies work on function and muscle morphology after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Her academic collaborations include the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna, particularly in assessment of patellofemoral pain.
