Life and work
The story behind the role.
Korkusuz graduated in medicine from Ankara University in 1986 and completed orthopaedics and traumatology training at Gazi University in 1992. A Japanese government scholarship supported his 1989–90 Osaka University work in spine and sports-injury surgery, bone infection and tissue engineering.
He combined clinical leadership at Middle East Technical University with physical-education and sports teaching. His Hacettepe biography describes work in biomaterials, regenerative medicine, biomechanics and sports physiology, as well as journal editorial service.
