Life and work
The story behind the role.
Egemen Önen worked as the Turkish Basketball Federation’s special-projects manager from 2008 to 2013, contributing to the 2010 World Championship and Children of the World programme. His later consulting work included operational readiness for Tokyo 2020, legacy planning around Lima 2019 and the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final.
He joined KIN Partners in 2020 and developed its basketball business. Basketball England records his board appointment in December 2021 and extension for a second three-year term in February 2025; it identifies him as Commercial Committee chair.
He played in Anadolu Efes’s elite youth programme from 1997 to 2002 and studied international relations followed by European affairs and politics. He also directs sports-management education with Geleceğin Yıldızları.
