Sports management academic with doctoral work on sponsorship and brand value.
His academic record lists a sociology bachelor’s at Boğaziçi University completed in 1994 and a Marmara University doctorate in sport management sciences completed in 2016. The faculty directory also lists master’s study at İstanbul Ticaret University.
His doctoral thesis examined the effect of sponsorship in international sporting events on corporate brand value. His institutional teaching record includes sports economics and sports marketing management.
His career also includes business leadership outside sport. A December 2021 Turkish Football Federation report identifies him as chief executive of Erciyes Anadolu Holding when he spoke at the fourth Türkiye Sports Summit; this is a dated former appointment rather than a claim about his current employer.
İstanbul Gelişim University announced on 30 September 2026 that Ertekin had been appointed general coordinator of the Istanbul 2027 European Games. A Sports Services General Directorate report from 24 September also names him in that role at a coordination meeting with federation representatives.
