Life and work
The story behind the role.
Born in Gelibolu in 1970, Ahmet Rıza Bayrı graduated from the Naval Petty Officer School in navigation and from a faculty of economics. He is qualified as a 3,000-GRT master and a 500-GRT yacht master, and retired from Türkiye's Coast Guard Command in 2012 after 25 years of sea service.
Bayrı began sailing in Optimist and has worked as both a sailing umpire and coach since 1994. His documented assignments include chief-umpire work for BAYK, BYK and BAÜ trophies, the Bodrum Cup and the Bosphorus Cup, alongside management posts at Beta Bodrum Sailing Academy, Polo Group Maritime Agency and Gelibolu Shipyard.
